I am an executive coach with a diverse background of experiences and qualifications which enables me to empathise and support my clients with whatever challenges they are facing. I am passionate about supporting women to fulfil their potential.
This is a summary of the different phases of my life and some of the lessons I have learnt along the way.
Grew up in Crawley (near Gatwick) airport until I was 12 years old.
Parents divorced and remarried by time I was 7-8 – apparently, I was quite optimistic about this, thinking it was great to have 2 lots of birthday and Christmas presents. I am generally optimistic and like to search for the silver lining in things that don’t go well.
Moved to Hong Kong with my mum and stepfather and went to secondary school. It was an amazing experience and a great place to grow up. I feel very lucky to have lived and experienced this life. It was a real work hard, play hard type culture – as a result, there is a lot I love about Asian culture.
Went to Loughborough University to study PE Sports Science and Recreation Management – loved the course. Met my future husband (took another 12 years to get married). Realisation hit in my first year that actually I wasn’t that good at sports after all – tough lesson!
Worked in the Health and Fitness Industry as I wanted to help people to get fit and healthy. Worked for a large South African company that were expanding into the UK. I helped open up a new club in Glasgow – I quickly got disheartened with the industry when I realised they were more interested in making money than getting people fit.
Took a year out to travel and work around Australia and Asia to ‘find myself’, read some great books, saw some amazing things and met some wonderful people. Not sure I ‘found myself’
Decided on a career change so went to university to complete an MBA – had some coaching before doing this and realised that I could aim high if I changed the way I thought and worked. I ended up with a distinction. Big lesson for me about the powerful impact of changing your mindset.
Started a new career as a Programme Manager working in the finance sector on a MBO (management buyout) from Royal & Sun Alliance, had an amazing mentor and manager that supported and encouraged me to fulfil my potential. A key part of this role was coaching managers and senior leaders to ensure clarity over strategy and the plans to deliver it.
Worked at UBS Investment Bank managing a large-scale change programme, loved this work! Working with people to achieve a big transformation goal and overcoming obstacles was exciting. I was invited to join the executive fast track programme, which was a great experience.
Got married and had a family – they are the joys of my life.
Gave up my career and moved to Kazakhstan with the family to support my husband’s career – not quite the expat experience I remember from living in Hong Kong, but an interesting experience that had its ups and downs.
Moved to the UK with the kids to support my Mum with terminal cancer. I hadn’t always had a great relationship with my mum for various reasons, but during the time we had left I listened to her talk about her life and wrote her memoirs, by understanding her better we found peace in our relationship just months before she passed, I will always be grateful for having that time.
Supported other wider family members with chronic diseases such as cancer and dementia, unfortunately for about 5 years there was always someone I loved suffering with something terrible. Really sad times to see people you love change for the worse in front of your eyes.
Bought a house that needed a big renovation project, I managed the project and loved creating the house we now call home.
Decided I wanted to complete a challenge for myself, so trained and completed a ½ Iron man in Staffordshire in 2019 – the lessons I have learned from the experience of being focused on your goal, training consistently and having a coach to support you, have been invaluable.
In 2020 I decided to train as a health coach. After years watching family members with chronic illness, I became curious about ways in which we could change our lifestyles to improve the quality of our lives and avoid some of the chronic diseases in the future. Coached clients to achieve their health goals, during the pandemic.
Decided to broaden my coaching to become an Executive Coach, trained with The Henley Business School on their PCEC programme, an amazing course that constantly puts you out of your comfort zone, so that you can learn and grow as a coach.
Established Anna Malone Coaching to support others on their journey to achieve their goals and realise their potential.
I take a holistic approach with my coaching. The first step is to have a discovery session to ensure I can support you and we can work together. Once we have agreed then we move forward to defining your goals and working out how you can get there.
An in-depth session to find out where you are, what’s keeping you stuck and set clear goals and objectives for our coaching journey.
Each session is aligned with an area of focus that is important to you, with clear outcomes and actions defined at the end for you to experiment with.
Review and reflect on the actions you took; did they work or what needs tweaking? I encourage you to keep a journal to keep track of your actions and reflections.
Congratulations! But the work doesn’t stop there, what will you do to maintain the momentum on your own?
Start your journey to overcome your challenges and unlock your potential
