There are a few definitions of Executive Coaching:

‘Coaching is unlocking a person’s potential to maximise their own performance. It is helping them to learn rather than teach them.’ (Whitmore, 2017)

‘Partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximise their personal and professional potential.' (International Coaching Federation, 2019)

Some of the benefits my clients have seen are, although not conclusive and not necessarily for all clients:

  • Increased confidence
  • Increased self awareness
  • Improved productivity at work
  • Increased leadership effectiveness
  • Improved boundaries
  • Improved work life balance

The benefits of coaching are numerous and are very dependent on where you are in your life and what you want and need to change. During our initial session, we will look to define the outcomes and the benefits you are looking to achieve and create a roadmap to support you in achieving them.

Coaching and Counselling are similar, but the biggest difference is that Counselling is looking to the past to resolve issues and deal with trauma, whereas coaching is about looking to the future in terms of what it is you want to achieve and supporting you on that journey. Counselling is a different skill set and qualification; I am not a trained counsellor, and therefore, if a conversation gets to a point where I am not qualified to support you, I will be honest with you and point you in the direction of someone who would be more appropriate. It wouldn’t mean you would have to stop coaching; that would be your choice, but more that certain topics would not be in scope for our conversations.

That is absolutely fine and very common. I love to work with clients to help them define what their future lives might look like, not just in their careers but in their lives.  Often, we spend so much time living today that we don’t think about what we want in the future. Once we know where we are going, it is easier to know if the decisions we are making today are right for us in the long term, so having clear goals for the future can support you in living a more fulfilled life now.

Yes, if this is an area of your life that you are struggling with then coaching can help you understand your triggers, make sense of why you behave or think in a certain way and help you find new strategies that will enable you to manage stress better.

I coach the whole person and therefore take a very holistic approach to my coaching, as I believe everything in life is interconnected. The focus of our sessions is decided by you and what it is you want to achieve. We will have an initial conversation to see how we work together and whether I am the right person to support you on your journey. If we both agree, then I follow a 4-step process:

  1. Define your goals – An in-depth session to find out where you are, what’s keeping you stuck and set clear goals and objectives for our coaching journey.
  2. Experiment with actions – each session is aligned with an area of focus that is important to you, with clear outcomes and actions defined at the end for you to experiment with.
  3. Reflection and feedback - review and reflect on the actions you took; did they work or what needs tweaking? I encourage you to keep a journal to keep track of your actions and reflections.
  4. Achieve your goals and objectives – Congratulations! But the work doesn’t stop there, what will you do to maintain the momentum on your own?

Yes, I am a member of the Association of Coaching and, as such, abide by their code of Ethics.

The frequency and length of the sessions are up to you. I have some clients that I work with for 30 minutes every week, as that is what works best for them right now, and other clients that I see for 90 minutes every 3-4 weeks.

There is no right or wrong or any set pattern; it all depends on what you want to work on and what feels right for you and your current commitments. I would suggest from experience that the frequency of sessions be no more than 3-4 weeks apart; otherwise, the momentum of the work we are doing can tend to drift.

If you think Executive Coaching will benefit you, then please setup a call and we can discuss pricing.

Every company is different but often as part of your continued personal development (CPD) companies will pay for Executive Coaching to support your learning and growth. If you are interested in pursuing executive coaching please setup a call and we can set up a Discovery call to discuss how we can work together and review payment options.
